This guide provides a step-by-step process for manually adding a network printer to a macOS device via IP address, specifically when automatic discovery (Bonjour) fails. It covers preparation on the host Mac (sharing the printer via Air Printer), configuring the client Mac (entering IP/queue details), and testing functionality. Troubleshooting tips address common issues like incorrect IP addresses, protocol mismatches, and driver installations.
(Applicable when Bonjour discovery fails or for older routers without Bonjour(mDNS) support)

Air Printer - Printer Server

The printers shared by Air Printer support IPP and AirPrint protocols (which need to be manually enabled here).
If you are unable to automatically find the printer through Bonjour(mDNS), you can add a printer on your local network using the following method:
ipp://imac24.local.:9667/ipp/print/canon_mg2400_series |
ipp://10.0.0.13:9667/ipp/print/canon_mg2400_series |

10.0.0.13:9667 or imac24.local.:9667).ipp/ (e.g., ipp/print/canon_mg2400_series).Canon MG2400 Series).
🔴 If the printer isn’t detected:
631 or 9667 for Air Printer).🔴 For older printers:
Due to some older routers not supporting the Bonjour(mDNS) protocol, the computer is unable to automatically locate the printer, this method can successfully add the printer to your computer for use.
